End Of The Road Exhibition

EndOfRoad_exhibit_med.jpg

Makeshift is co-presenting End Of The Road an exhibition that opens on Thursday 28th January from 6pm at Cross Street Studios; it is the last exhibition to be hosted at the gallery space on Cross Street, near Auckland’s K’rd. To celebrate Cross Street Studios’ rough and ready approach to the arts, the exhibition will be a ‘cash and carry’ send off for the space. This means that it is first in first served, once you buy it you can take it home, so get in early if you want to see all the wonderful work up.

The exhibition is made up of a diverse group of artists with art ranging from pop art, illustration, minimalistic painting through to collage and typography. Many of the artists involved have work with Cross Street in the past, and include current and previous members of the collective. I'm happy to say that I'll be curating the show with Cross Street's director Tessa Stubbing. We have got a great group of artists and some exciting stuff planned. Make sure you come along to opening night.

Artists include:
Loved Letters
thisisrabbit
Genista Jurgens
Mikel Krumins
Amy Blinkhorne
Damian Golfinopoulous
Kim Shen
Aimee Carruthers
EDMO!
Nick Boyd

End Of The Road celebrates Cross Street’s time in the Auckland art scene by gathering artists together for this final send-off exhibition featuring friends of Cross Street old and new. The exhibition opens on Thursday 28th January and will be a homage to the cheerful party attitude of Cross Street, punctuated with home made cupcakes and drinks such as bambus (a yummy mix of red wine and cola). Don’t miss your last chance to say farewell to Cross Street and enjoy this gallery’s playful and accessible atmosphere.

When: Opening Night Thursday 28th Jan, 6-9pm
Exhibition runs Friday & Saturday, Jan 29th – 30th, 11am-6pm

ActionMan Adam

So in a muddled impression of a good older brother I went with my younger brother to Armageddon this year. He’d never been and I hadn’t been for years. It was an... interesting experience (he says diplomatically) but one of the highlights was the new ActionMan Adam book by local artist Marc Streeter.
